Lawrence Girls Help Lead Team to Championship!

Lawrence girls Elizabeth Rozzi and Reese Hulcher helped to lead their Westside Wild girls lacrosse team to the championship in their first season in the league! Coach Gilman expressed, "We were beyond thrilled with how the girls did.  Winning that Championship was a ton of fun and your two Lawrence girls were a huge part of that..  We would not have won it without them."

Lawrence girls can join a new girls lacrosse team on the west side of Lenexa, KS. called Westside Wild Girls Lacrosse. The coaches are looking for girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade with little to no previous lacrosse experience.  Any girls in the Lawrence area who are interested in playing the girls' game of lacrosse this Spring should contact Coach Doug Davis (972) 837-5012 or Coach Scott Gilman at [email protected]

Coach Davis is an experienced girl’s lacrosse coach who places an emphasis on having fun. He coached his daughters’ team from 5th grade all the way to win the State High School Championship!

Team Director/Coach: Scott Gilman

Westside Team information:

The season will start the 3rd week in March right after Spring Break and run through May.

Practices will be held on the west side of Lenexa. Location: Buffalo Meadows Park.  Practice will be held twice a week but Coach Davis is only requiring that girls come to practice once a week and will be holding practice on Saturdays for Lawrence girls and others who may have a conflict with making it to an after-school practice in Lenexa.

Games are on Sundays and will always be at the same location. Location: Blue Valley North

Cost to play is $125 - $150.

Girls younger than 6th grade are welcome to play on a Lawrence Lacrosse coed team (boys rules). Girls younger than 6th grade who are interested in playing the girls' game of lacrosse on a Kansas City Metro Girls Lacrosse Association league team should contact the girls league administrator, Elizabeth Johnson (913) 961-2970; [email protected]

We are hoping that the opportunity to play for Westside will be the spark that gets more girls interested in playing lacrosse in Lawrence and eventually forming a Lawrence team.
